Dear Reader,

My name is Linnéa, aka Library Monster, and I'm so happy to finally have a blog platform. I know Dreamwidth has been here since LJ, but I was shopping around for a long time. I kept coming back to DW, so here I am! Finally! Can't wait to have a blogging home, and also join and contribute to this space as an online community.

To introduce myself, I'm going to go through the eight dimensions of wellness because I think that could be interesting.

Physical health - I attribute entirely to my dogs, two of whom I rescued on a chilly Saturday morning this past February. From left (foreground) to right, that is Tiberius (nicknamed Tank), Persephone (nicknamed Phe), and Tavish. Tank & Phe are our most recent additions; Tavish is a bit older and shy, but the babes are all adjusting.

Intellectual health has a few points to mention!

I suppose this is where I share my love for indie tech (probably doesn't come as a surprise since I've chosen DW) and art in all its forms. My website, LibraryMonster.io, features my designs and works with 3D printing, digital art, traditional & mixed media art, videography, stationary/papercraft, photography, etc. I refuse to be locked down to a medium as an artist!

And then my indie web & tech brain is all about finding cyberpunk dystopias cool, but really solarpunk's the goal. I just installed Linux on 3 different aging laptops of mine & it's going awesome. Next step is to make one of them a media server...

Of course I'm a fandom person. Horror, fantasy, and scifi are my jam. I am picky about what actually hijacks my brain and has me creating fanworks though. In something like chronological order, my fannish mind has fixated on X-Files, Supernatural, Our Flag Means Death, Good Omens, Murderbot (not the TV show), Marvel (Steve & Bucky forever) and Severance. Emotional/Social health - I’m horrified by US politics, warfare, & genocide emerging as a thing people don’t wholesale condemn as a society anymore. I'm Pro Palestine, Ukraine, and /*checks notes*/ Iran. Also, learning & experiencing a lot with AI & wondering if we’re all gonna die 😂🥂🤣

Environmental health - credit to my canine babes again! Also, I’m a witch & celebrating nature & its archetypes - spiritual health - is entwined with this dimension. Getting up at dawn to experience the weather and walk with my dogs is one of the most magical times of the day.

Financial health - I’m a librarian! What a guess. I'm a research and reference librarian at a public library in Illinois in a nice suburb outside Chicago, with a focus on technology tutoring, educational programs, outreach, staff training, collections, etc. Anything when it comes to teaching technology to adults, I’ve got my monstery paws on it. I’m also in the middle of my MSLIS at University of Illinois - Champaign-Urbana. My expected graduation date is summer 2027. I usually share the assignments I'm proud of - most recently, my review of scite.ai felt pretty legit, if I can brag 💅

Thank you so much for stopping by & please engage if the spirit so moves you.

Yours infernally,

Library Monster

comments
